Welcome to our family-run shop based in the beautiful town of Thornbury on the north side of Bristol in South Gloucestershire.
We specialise in picture framing, gifts, homewares and are official stockists of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint™.

In our shop you’ll find hundreds of great gift ideas. Lots for her, a few for him and plenty for yourself. We’ve got home furnishings, candles, furniture, frames, Annie Sloan Chalk Paint™, seasonal decorations and plenty of quirky greetings cards too.
We try our best to stock as many items made by local crafters as we can and we also stock a wealth of beautiful products by the likes of Gisela Graham, Nkuku, St Eval Candle Company and Tweedmill Textiles.
AND RECENTLY…
Surroundings permanent resident artist and framer, Richard has completed his two year study of Thornbury. Richard has finished the mighty 'Wotton 240 Buildings' Try to spot the towns resident Eagle Owl! A3 and A2 prints (framed or mounted) available.

Our stunning vintage red VW Beetle, circa 1971. This little beauty is available for Weddings, proms & bar mitzvahs etc, etc, etc. Its very cool, take a look.

Framing

We offer a really comprehensive and customised framing service. We have thousands of mouldings to choose from and specialise in hand-painting and staining bare-wood mouldings exactly as you want them, often in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint™.
We have various glass options including conservation grade UV water white anti-reflective. (In other words, invisible glass).
We’ll happily frame a single 6x4” photo or jumbo sized paintings for extensive exhibitions. Most importantly we are happy to offer advice without obligation.
And recently...
New version of water white (invisible glass) available soon. It will look the same but it will be less of a diva, i.e. easier to clean.
We now have large gold ornate frames available to rent as a prop for wedding/party photo booths.
We are fully stocked up for the New Year with our ready-made frames. There are so many different styles and sizes to suit.
Don't forget about any of those framing jobs you put off before the Christmas rush, Richard will happily discuss your framing options and get you in that queue!

Chalk Paint™ by Annie Sloan really is as good as it sounds. We are always happy to offer advice and we sell pretty much all of the associated Annie Sloan products. Waxes, brushes, tester pots, brass and silver leaf, gold size, craqeleur sets, fabric and the Annie Sloan book range.
We also run the introductory and more advanced workshops. See our Workshops page for details.
And recently...
We now stock the new size Annie Sloan wax in both clear and dark, white wax as well as the full range of new Guilding Wax.They are great for small projects and popping in your handbag if you need to do a decorative job on the run.

My Drawings
Richard at Surroundings is an Architectural artist. He almost exclusively draws buildings, in all their wonderful forms and in two distinct styles. Highly detailed architectural pencil studies and stylised marker pen and paint sketches.
He has a range of cards and prints called ‘Venues’. He also takes commissions. You can view a sample of Richards work below or click on the website.

Richards new website featuring his old and new art work is coming very soon. You will have the option to view his collections and purchase original and limited edition signed gilcle prints. Watch this space for the launch date.
We also have Richards designs as a Tea towel in the 140 Buildings, all priced at £8.80 printed in England. Greeting cards available for £3 and mugs at £10.60.
